History of the creation

The coffee machine "Copper Joe"e was created as a special project for a rock club in Minsk (Belarus). Since the club has not only a musical, but also an automotive orientation, and is noteworthy for the retro attributes in the interior, the master was faced with the task of reflecting these peculiarities in the exterior design of the coffee machine, while retaining all the functions of the mechanism.

The style of "Copper Joe" is based on the principle of the Old & New, like other coffee machines made in the Metal Art Studio - giving ordinary modern interior items and household appliances the vintage look of the early XXth century. The currently popular steampunk style is distinguished by the above described features. Inspired by the works of Conan Doyle, the first French and Italian automakers and classic rock, Dmitriy Tikhonenko created this coffee machine in steampunk style and named it "Copper Joe" after the legendary rock musician Joe Cocker.

Exterior design

In fact, it's hard to say which function in this device prevails: that of a coffee machine or of an interior item. This is one of those coffee machines that have already become works of art.

The housing of the coffee machine is made of patinated copper, due to which it acquired the noble look of an antique mechanism. All parts are also made of copper, brass and bronze. The accessories like portafilters and coffee tampers are also archaicized. The dishes preheating area has acquired a backsplash with a royal lily on it. The rotary steam and water opening switches are replaced with levers to make the machine look like classic lever coffee makers.

Instead of the power button, there is a key that looks like an ignition key in retro cars.

The pressure gauge makes the coffee machine even more elegant. There are ship's tumblers instead of the remaining control keys which is the author's trademark.

"Copper Joe" is a semiautomatic two-group espresso coffee machine with a heater-boiler, a water tank, the possibility of connection to a water pipe, hot water and steam taps, group heat exchangers and a control valve.

Peculiar features of the coffee machine

Work on the coffee machine lasted more than two months. All the works were handworked in a filigree manner. The decorative lily flower on the copper apron is made in the technique of etching. The inscriptions on the housing and levers ("steam", "coffee", "boiling water") are also manually engraved.
